I decided to have a little fun ranting to vent my frustration. Enjoy—
Okay, I decided to collect a list and give simple reasons why certain parings in Naruto will or will not work based upon current information and facts. I will not apply my NaruHina bias. I will add more later, but this is my first five.
Most common five I chose:
Naruto and Sasuke:
First of all, Naruto is not homosexual. Sasuke really doesn’t care for a relationship or bond male or female as it seems. Although, Naruto and Saskue bond strongly despite their differences and constant fights. Sasuke tried to kill Naruto multiple times—not a good beginning for a relationship. I don’t need to go any further.
Result: No way
Naruto and Sakura:
While the beginning of the two started off on a rocky start; however, during part two Naruto comes to look up to Sakura’s healing abilities. Sakura sees Naruto later as an important friend, even lying to try to protect Naruto’s feelings. They have a very close bond, but this bond is more family like; hence, Sakura is more of a big sister figure to the younger brother figure of Naruto.
Result: Very unlikely
Sasuke and Sakura:
The two are teammates, and Sakura has a strong crush on Sasuke. With all the life and death situations the two go through, Sasuke relied on Naruto and not Sakura to back him up. Sakura was the slow down of the team, and more importantly towards his goal of revenge. During the closing part of Sasuke leaving the village, Sakura tried to have him stay and eventually wanted to join him. Sakura’s youth wasn’t prepared, and even Sasuke knew the darkness he had to face alone. Perhaps to protect Sakura, but most likely because he preferred to get stronger on his own, to become a devil.
Part two the teammates meet again. Sakura, however, does not give herself up like before, but rather wanted to bring him back like Naruto. She grew stronger emotionally, and thought beyond her simple childish crush. After that mission failed, the current one is underway with Team Kakashi and Team Kurenai.
Result: 50-50. It’s hard to pin-point from the current knowledge.
Shikamaru and Tameri:
The first connection these two had was in the middle of the battle during the Chuunin Exam. Later Tameri saved Shikamaru during Sasuke rescue arc part one. Although putting on his usual defense, the two are seen together during part one and two. Despite little connection on print, they say opposites attract. He hates noisy woman. She hates weak men. However, they seem to glow when next to each other. That’s love for you.
Result: Most likely
Naruto and Hinata(manga): (As you know from everything I squeal at with girlish joy when it comes to Naruto and Hinata, this however will be manga only.)
The two first meet where they speak at the beginning of the first Chuunin Exam test, and Naruto knows she shy and doesn’t think much of it besides the fact when she gave him a chance to cheat on the test. The two don’t meet again until the second part before the third where Naruto’s words give her courage. Almost the whole chapter dedicated to Naruto and Hinata talking before his fight with Neji. Naruto fights to beat Neji by the promise on Hinata’s blood to prove he was wrong. Hinata watches him walk away at the end of part one, promising herself to become better while he was away.
The two don’t meet again until part two where she passes out because her adoration of him seemed to grow even larger during his absence. Finally, the two meet again for the current mission. From what little she actually appears, she has an effect on Naruto’s emotions. They both were failures, in failure or feeling of hopelessness they found strength in each other’s words and action.
Result: Most likely
